Melbourne is building the rail line it has needed for decades.

The Suburban Connect consortium is delivering the $3.6 billion Suburban Rail Loop East tunnelling package - a 16 km twin tunnel build connecting the south-eastern suburbs in what is one of the most ambitious transport infrastructure projects in the city's history.

The Suburban Rail Loop will fundamentally change how Melbourne moves. For the first time, passengers will be able to travel between suburban activity centres without passing through the CBD - reducing congestion, improving access, and unlocking development potential across Melbourne's middle ring.

The scale of the tunnelling package alone reflects the ambition of the project. Three joint venture partners, thousands of workers, and a supply chain that extends across Victoria and beyond. The social and economic footprint of a project this size is enormous - and the obligation to track and deliver community benefit matches it.

The Suburban Connect consortium brings global tunnelling expertise to one of Melbourne's most important public investments.
